Samsung-Gasco-rsABU DHABI Dhabi Gas Industries (GASCO) has awarded a US$160 million contract to South Korea’s Samsung Engineering to build a nitrogen gas injection (NGI) plant in Abu Dhabi.

Samsung is executing the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning for the project on a lump-sum turnkey basis. The plant is expected to achieve completion by August 2014.

The NGI plant, which will be constructed in Mirfa, will be capable of injecting 600 million scfd of nitrogen gas into wells to increase gas production as part of an enhanced oil recovery (EOR) programme.

“We are committed to the satisfaction of GASCO and we look forward to strengthening our reputation by completing our seventh project with an ADNOC company on time and safely,” said President & CEO Park Ki-Seok.

The award bears significance as GASCO is a new client for Samsung Engineering. GASCO is one of 16 subsidiaries of state firm ADNOC.

Samsung Engineering has worked on several projects with ADNOC since the partnership began in 2007 with the Borouge refinery plant.
